Executive Director Ralph Alan Cohen has finally seen his dream come to life with the completion of the Blackfriars Theatre in Staunton, Virginia, a structure that will provide a home for his well-known touring company, Shenandoah Shakespeare. The company is under the Artistic Direction of Jim Warren. The building was designed by Tom McLaughlin, Architect.

The Conference provided an opportunity for those Shakespeareans interested in the performance side of the field to hear papers, attend workshops, and see performances in the new theatre space created to replicate Shakespeare's own Blackfriars Theatre. Productions of A Midsummer Night's Dream, The Alchemist, Hamlet, and Rosencrantz and Gilderstern are Dead gave the assembled group and local supporters of the theatre building project the chance to experience the plays in this historic setting.
