About Us

Shakespeare and the Classroom is a publication sponsored by Ohio Northern Univeristy. Lauched by co-editors H.R. Coursen and Eva McManus in the Spring of 1993 and initially co-sponsored by Shakespeare's Globe Center (USA), the journal began as a newsletter designed to provide relevant information about teaching Shakespeare, with an emphasis on performance. Almost immediately, however, it jumped in size to its current 70-90 pages published twice a year. Since 1993, it has broadened its scope to include widely ranging topics of interest to Shakespeare teachers, scholars, and theatre practitioners. In 2002, Ohio Northern University assumed sole sponsorship of the journal.
