Phi Mu Delta was founded as a national fraternity on March 1, 1918 at
the University of New Hampshire, Connecticut, and Vermont. Formerly the
Masonic Club, the local Mu Beta chapter was installed on March 15, 1926
at ONU. In 1992 the chapter redefined their purpose in their newly formed
mission statement while keeping in mind the basic ideals and principles
on which the fraternity was founded. The purpose of the Mu Beta chapter
of Phi Mu Delta is to enhance the educational process by providing the
individual with a commitment to democracy, brotherhood, and service. This
is accomplished through service to the college, the brotherhood, and the
individual; and the development of the human spirit by creating life long
friendships. As a result, the fraternity shall be the finest on campus
and its members the best here and beyond. The brotherhood is active in
many campus and community activities as well as maintaining high academics
