December 5, 2005:

 

Toledo Zoo Lights:  We are going to see the zoo lights on Tuesday December 13 at 6:30.  We will be meeting at NOM.

 

ASCD Annual Conference:  The ASCD Annual Conference is in Chicago on April 1 through the 3rd.  This looks really good on a resume.  The price of student registration is $119.  Other costs include transportation, hotel reservations, and food.  Please e-mail Patty at p-fishleigh@onu.edu by Monday December 12th if you are planning on going so she can get money from Student Senate.

 

Next Meeting:  The next meeting will be January 9th at 7:00.  We will be having some guest student speakers who just came back from student teaching abroad. 


November 7, 2005:

Dr. Romanowski did an excellent presentation for the group about his recent sabbatical to Wuhan, China.  He discussed the Chinese culture and the schooling in China. 

Sunday November 13th at 2pm, Patricia Polacco will be at the Mazza Museum in Findlay.  Please call the Mazza Museum at 419-434-4560 for tickets.  Tickets cost $3.

Wednesday November 30th, we will be going to the Toledo Zoo to see the

lights.  We will be leaving at 4:30.  It costs $9 to get in.  

National ASCD Conference is April 1-3 in Chicago.  There is an early bird discount if you decide to go by our December meeting.  Discuss this with your parents over Thanksgiving break.  This will look good on your resume. 

Our next meeting will be December 5th.  We will be having a Christmas potluck so please bring a dessert to share and your own drink. 

Officers will provide pizza.  Also bring a $1-$3 Christmas gift so we can have a gift exchange. 

Yearbook pictures will be at 7:45 on December 5th. 

October 3, 2005:

I hope everyone had a wonderful time at the cookout!

Our bake sale on September 25th made $46!  Thank you to everyone who made something for the sale!

We are planning a field trip to Mazza Museum of International Art from Picture Books in Findlay.  More details to come about when we will be going. 

There is a new suggestions and questions box which will be located in the education office.  Please put any suggestion and/or questions you may have in the box.

Book Orders are due on Wednesday to Nina in the Education Office.

T-Shirts will be around $10.  They will be dark purple with white writing.  The quote chosen this year which will be put on the back is “If you can read this shirt, thank a teacher!”  Please e-mail Stacey if you were not at the meeting but would like to get a shirt. 

I have been babysitting for the Shawnee UMC in Lima on Wednesday mornings from 8:50 to 11:15.  I have had an average of 8 to 10 children each Wednesday by myself.  The children age from 6 months old to about

3 years old.  If anyone is interested in helping me babysit, please reply to this e-mail letting me know.  The church pays $20 each Wednesday. 

Next meeting will be on November 7th!  Dr. Romanowski will be speaking to ASCD about teachers in China. Amy is bringing drinks and Erin is bringing snack.


September 12, 2005:

The officers thank everyone who attended the very first ASCD meeting of the year.  It was great to see so many new faces and those of returning members!

Everyone introduced themselves and we got to know new people.

We discussed what the club is about and what events we normally do throughout the year.

Dues are $33 for the year and need to be paid by October 3rd to Nina in the Education Office.

For our next meeting we will be having a cookout.  It will be on October 3rd at 7:00pm.  Please bring your own drink.  More details will be sent out closer to the time.

On September 25th, we will be having our first fund raiser for the year.  We will be having a bake sale and will walk around the dorms to sell the baked goods.  If you wish to bake you can go to Patty's to bake at 2:00pm on September 25th.  She lives at 301 E. Lehr.  We will meet to sell the items at 7:00pm outside of Founders.  If you have any questions, please e-mail Patty at p-fishleigh@onu.edu.

Jan Brett will be in Columbus on Sunday, October 9th to discuss her new book.  She will also be signing books.  More details will be sent out closer to the time.
